High temperature Red VCSEL in mass production.

The Optoelectronics Company, a distributor of innovative optoelectronic components, is pleased to announce the release of a visible red 670nm wavelength range Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL).

This innovative device from Korean manufacturer Optowell Co., Ltd offers unrivalled operating temperature performance with excellent output power vs temperature characteristics.

The PM67-F1PON provides an output power of 1mW typical at an extremely low operating current of 4mA and operating voltage of 2.5V maximum. The circular output has a beam divergence of 14° minimum and 30° maximum and spectral bandwidth (RMS) of 0.85nm maximum. The device is packaged in TO-46 housing with flat window and has an operating temperature range of -20 to +50 °C.

The circular beam characteristics, low operating current, low operating voltage and excellent operating temperature range make the PM67-F1PON ideally suited to applications where normally edge emitting laser diodes are employed, such as position sensors, medical instrumentation, bar code scanners, laser mouse, plastic optical fiber (transmission) and battery operated optoelectronic equipment.

These visible red 670nm VCSEL's are also available in a TO-46 package with dome lens (providing a narrow 2° circular output beam) and as unpackaged chips.
