Automotive Electronics
Automotive electronics are electronic systems in automobiles that are designed to increase the levels of safety and comfort. All modern automobiles such as passenger cars, heavy vehicles, off the road vehicles, two wheelers, farm equipment and others have some elements of electronic components and devices.
Navigation systems, ignition and engine management, breaking and hydraulic, air conditioning and lighting are some of the areas in which automotive electronics are used. Microprocessor controlled miniature circuits are used in some of the areas. These circuits are controlled by a central logic, a computer or can be manually controlled. Advanced navigation systems use GSM technology to help drivers to navigate through unknown terrains. Many of the systems have embedded chips that offer advanced automatic control.
Safety features can be enhanced with automotive electronics and they are used in operating safety airbags. Braking systems are synchronized to prevent brake locking or brake failure. Engine power management is achieved by finely controlling the amount of fuel injected into the engine. Anti-theft locking systems make it difficult for an automobile to be stolen. Automotive electronics also control the lighting and air conditioning to enhance the driving comfort.
